Tampa Bay Rays Optimize Tribute to Military Community


With a history of being military-friendly in regards to their ticket sales, the Tampa Bay Rays had previously offered a 50 percent military discount in select seating areas. But the organization wanted to do more to honor our service members. The 2008 American League East baseball champions needed an ID technology platform that could easily facilitate real-time military status verifications.



In July 2015, the Rays developed the “Rays Honor Pass” program to give active-duty service members, and retired and honorably discharged veterans up to two free tickets. Using ID.me's Troop ID technology, the Tampa Bay Rays was able to increase their military presence at each game substantially. Within the first 48 hours after implementing ID.me’s Troop ID technology, the Rays received 5,000 Honor Pass applications.
